The waterzen company is in the business of improving and increasing the standard of living and the life expectancy of people through an an innovative way of swimming, floatation, and meditation.
I am a Mermaid!
The best part of waterzen is when I allow myself to be void of physical consciousness and then float with the rhythm of the subtle wave.
How I Learnt to Swim.
Growing up on 24, Alhaji Jimoh Street, off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja was one of the best communities in Lagos state one could grow up in. For one, we all knew each other lol.
The street is somehow also known as Adekunle Village. This amazing village was surrounded by several estates which have now merged to form a bigger community of estates leaving alhaji jimoh street right in the middle. My primary school then was on Kudety street, the now Akora Villa. Several robberies and violent activities lead to the estate deciding to shot all the estate's back gates one after the other that left Adekunle village completely isolate.
Adekunle village was a fun place to be because of its mini-market and quite several people and lucrative businesses scattered around the street.
Meanwhile, there's hardly any building on alhaji jimoh street and the surrounding estates that I haven't entered at some point because I was known to be very creative, industrious stubborn and business-oriented.
If you have a dirty water tank or reservoir to wash guess who most people call, Ojo. Yeah, Ojonugua Cho du mi, at least before I changed it to Moses, voluntarily.
Uncle Wale's family owned several plots of the land opposite where I lived, he has an amazing duplex directly opposite where I lived and all he has to do is come out to his balcony and ask for Ojo whenever he wants to wash either the overhead water tank or the reservoir beneath the ground level.
The process for washing is simple:
Drain the water from the tank to the bearest minimum, apply detergent, wash and scrub thoroughly, completely drain the lather, pour in a new set of water for the first set of rinsing, drain the water and repeat rinsing for about six times until I believe the tank/reservoir is sparkling.
The part where I "swim" is the excitement of entering the water when it is still a bit much, I would first "swim" in the water before I completely drain it.
"Swim" was in quotes because so I thought.
The first day I went to the airport hotel to swim, I confidently ignored the labels on the poolside, and passed 5ft, 10ft, 15th, 20ft, and then jumped into 25ft deep part of the Olympic size swimming pool, the next thing I remembered was me drowning and having a lifeguard coming for my rescue.
What I didn't say about that day was, I walked majestically, passed all the beautiful ladies sitting by the poolside like I had an Olympic medal, and went to the shower before I faced my ordeal that day. But because of who I be na, after I was resuscitated, I simply picked my stuff and left that environment as quickly as I could, but made sure I walked out majestically like I did when walking in.
There you go! How I learned how to "swim".
I am a Mermaid! I'm saying it again. well, I was flabbergasted when I got to know about it too, wink face!
Water And The Human Body.
I have always been fascinated by the simplicity of the chemical composition of water, such a simple and amazing covalent bound of hydrogens and oxygen elements to form the world's most valuable solvent.
It's called omioho in Igala, but occasionally you just say Omi, the same way the Yorubas call it.
Water is so dear to Mother Earth that She surrounds herself with about 71% of it. I do not accept that estimate by a percentage because I believe that estimation did not put into consideration the fact that water not only covers a larger surface area but is also very deep and also found deep beneath ground levels, underground water.
The Human body exceptionally manages an average of 60 - 75% of water, yeah! waterfalls as rain too, sometimes transformed to crystals and then snows. Amazingly, waterfalls, and also springs.
I found an interesting concept of balancing one's body in water. Balancing as a general concept in physics and biology describes how the human ears are the reason why we all can walk straight and stand upright without falling.
Balancing in water happens when you understand the relationship that exists between your body and the water in which you are completely immersed in.
You would realize your body moves with the rhythm of the water in the pool when you hold your breath and completely stay still while floating.
Your body movement in the water is simple. when you surprise the water your body moves upward, and when you do the opposite your body goes beneath the water.
You also need to know how to control your breath under the water. No matter how much you think you are a fish, DO NOT TRY TO BREATH UNDER THE WATER, if you do, YOU ARE GONE.
it's important to know how to hold your breath, and how to manage the air within you while under the water, and when you need air, just come up to the surface of the water by suppressing the water and catch your breath.
To archive floatation, all you need is Air, breath control, and Stillness.
Why My Swimming Is Unique.
My biggest influence when it comes to swimming was a concept I learned from a movie I saw some years back, The Life of Pi…Based on Yann Martel's best-selling novel.
The movie was about an Indian boy who survived a ship reck and got stranded on the sea in a boat with a tiger. They both understood that they needed each other to stay alive for a chance to make it out of the deep blue sea. The little lad told a story of how his Dad will leave him in the pool swimming long after his peers had left the pool, he would always be left swimming for hours, without rest. His father was teaching him how to survive in the water, while others were merely learning how to swim faster.
I can be in the water for three hours straight without having to rest my legs or my arms. It's amazing to be able to feel comfortable in water almost like being comfortable on land.
The beautiful thing about this concept of swimming is that it increases by multiple effects the confidence needed to be innovative and creative with your swimming.
A new style I'm currently practicing is swimming forward while I rotate in my orbit, just like how the earth revolves around the sun and its orbit simultaneously.
Very rigorous, but that's because I'm still practicing the style.
What is Innovative about WaterZen?
In two words, Swimming + Meditation.
Swimming is said to be the best exercise because you engage more of your muscles while at it, to be more detailed; swimming builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness. It helps maintain a healthy weight, heart, and lungs. It tones muscles and builds strength. It provides an all-over body workout as all of your muscles are used during swimming
Meditation helps relax your mind, connects you to your subconsciousness, and helps keep your minds and thoughts focused.
Swimming shouldn't be seen just as a sport because in it lies the power to reduce the aging process and a complete body and mind rejuvenation.
